What Problems May Biodiesel Trucks Face in the Future

Although the technology has almost an unlimited amount of potential, there are still quite a few pitfalls that may face biodiesel trucks as more and more people turn to them as a viable alternative to regular diesel trucks. If you are considering using biodiesel in your truck, then you had better read on to find out about some of the more common side effects that may occur as a result of using this relatively new technology.

Biodiesel has been around for a couple of decades now, although it is growing in popularity as more and more people start to look for alternatives to traditional petroleum fuels to power their vehicles. While some people may switch to cleaner burning gasoline powered cars like hybrids and ethanol ready automobiles, if you truly want to do your part to help the environment, you need to try and cut petroleum products out of your life altogether – and this is where biodiesel fuels come in to play.

As with any new technology though, there are still a few kinks to work out. Even though biodiesel can technically work in any relatively new diesel engine that can use regular diesel fuel, many car manufacturers are still weary of this natural type of fuel and threaten to void the warranty on anyone’s truck that uses this type of biological fuel. While less and less companies are practicing this tactic, be sure that you check with your manufacturer before you attempt to put biodiesel fuel in your truck.

Another problem with biodiesel at this point is that it can be hard on the rubber portions in your diesel engine. If you want to run biodiesel in an older diesel engine, be sure that you have all of the rubber in your engine replaced before you fill it up with biodiesel – as it could cause problems down the line. Also, since some fuel for biodiesel trucks is made from old oils and animal fats, you could end up with intense odors coming from your tailpipe depending on what type of biodiesel you end up purchasing.
